The Girl's Too Good for MeThe drink in the glass drains  
into nothing.  Life doesn't solve itself  
like the old blues songs I listen to. The girl don't love me,  
but she keeps me in her prayers.  In a ditch  
 
is where I wake up.  I stand on her  
shoulders.  But no kisses for my snakeskin lips.  I'm just a drunk.  She's a pretty girl that lights candles  
for me in her church.  The stars shine  
 
a distant promise of a dream.  But I have no coin  
in my coat to pay my tab.  I'm seeing green

Where Are All My Friends?The dawn broke through my window this morning  
to me, sweating and ripping the sheets off my mattress.  I was alone. My belongings in small hills around  
the place I've been trying to make my home.  All my friends have left me here alone with  
a glass of ice and 80-proof orange juice,  
my arms and legs feeling nothing but pain, and  
my thoughts becoming uncomfortably clear.  
Where are all my friends? Where's that shoulder  to cry on? Where's that person to make me smile?
